4 Major Companies Going Green And Saving Money

Major Companies Going Green

Multi-national corporations are regarded as the no. 1 source of environmental degradation, whether in Nigeria or China – the feeling is the same. This is why environmentalist and civil societies have every reason to be weary of these companies because profitability is usually their primary concern. Of course, it is true also that these businesses have the resources, power and wealth to keep on exploiting nature and many of them have continued in that line. However, some companies have  changed their attitude towards nature and they are the companies going green.

These are the companies that have opted to go greener even by a small percentage, yet they are leading the way in this regards. Here are 4 of them that have caught my attention;

4 Major Companies Going Green

Staples

This company has been promoting going green for quite some time now, and they are doing it through corporate sustainability. Their initiative has given them huge savings; in fact their energy savings in one store average at 34%, and that in turn reduce operating cost or perk up their bottom line.

Kimberly-Clark

The paper company that is considered as one of the big names in the industry is now trying to somehow reverse whatever negative write up, they were cited for. This year, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized them as one of the major buyer of green power. Apart from this, they have also decided to outsource all their material suppliers like fiber to an eco-friend sourcing company.

This is why; they no longer buy their materials in Boreal unless certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This is to avoid also any negative press against their company and issues with environmentalist from Boreal.

Starbucks

Coffee king Starbucks pledged to improve 8,000 of their iconic, to reduce energy consumption by almost 25%. This goal is part of their plan until next year, aside from other energy saving devices.

As the company continues to progress, innovation is also part of their agenda to help the environment, like other companies going green that have the same plan.

Timberland

Timberland is another company that has made all their products earth friendly. If you visit their website, there is a collection of Earth keepers boots, these boots are made from recycled materials and built to be recyclable as well.

Even the soles are made from tires, and what is more amazing is that, for every Yele Haiti pair sold – there is a $2 set aside for Wyclef Jean’s foundation, which is spearheading the move to replant the forest that has been denuded already on the troubled island.

Rather than ignore the pertinent issues of global warming, like some companies have been doing, this company went head on and formally requested the leaders of different countries to sign the deal. They have even backed up the campaign of many environmentalists who are urging other companies to reduce their emissions.

Finally, this list is by no means exhaustive. There are still other companies that are going green and others that don’t have that plan yet, but the few companies going green have shown true commitment to the Earth while improving their financial conditions in a most sustainable manner.
